Q. What does the Virtual Piarco FIR do?
A. The Virtual Piarco FIR Provides Virtual Air Traffic Control Services in and around the
easternmost chain of islands in the Eastern Carribean.
Q. Does the Virtual Piarco FIR have any sort of affiliation with the
real Piarco Flight Information Region?
A. No. The Virtual Piarco FIR has no actual affiliation with the Piarco Flight Information Region,
or any of the smaller facilities within it. We simply simulate these facilities.
Q. Who Governs the Virtual Piarco FIR?
A. The Virtual Piarco FIR is Governed by (currently) a four-member Executive Staff which
consists of Three Instructors and a Mentor. On top of that, the VPiarco FIR Falls under
the jurisdiction of the VATCAR (Caribbean) Division of the Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network (VATSIM).
Q. Who are the controllers at the Virtual Piarco FIR?
A. The Controllers in this FIR are simply a group of dedicated Flight Simulator Enthusiasts who
took interest to the region. They are all trained in the same capacity.
Q. I still don't get it. Real planes?
A. No. The Pilots we "Control" are simply enthusiasts, utilizing Microsoft's Flight Simulator Software
to simulate real-world commercial flight. We provide them with ATC
services. They are connected to the VATSIM Network via one of several
Network-Approved Clients.
Q. What do I need to Become a Controller?
A. There are no solid prerequisites to becoming a controller here. However, we do reccommend
that a joinee have either significant experience as a Pilot on the VATSIM Network or significant
Real-World aviation knowledge.
